I have resolved that this is what i'm going to spend my new year doing, and nothing in the whole wide world can stop me...

On that note...Happy New Year to all!
We threw our very first new years party to ring in 2008. A good friend brought her beloved blue throat macaw, Lucelle, and we had a wonderful time visiting with her. It was a great party...except everyone went home before midnight. Oh well. I can't drink champagne right now anyway. I spent my very first few minutes of 2008 snuggling with miss Katie. Actually, she fell victim to the terrible colic monster around 11:30 so mommy was trying to save her.
On a side note, I climbed up on top of the fridge to put the unopened bottles of champagne up on the shelf in our kitchen and looked down at Andy (who with worry, always has to stand and supervise when I do those sorts of things) and I realized...this must be what it's like to fly. This is what my baby cockatiels see when they fledge and fly up to the high window ledge in my kitchen.

They are always so stubborn about coming down from that particular spot. I wonder if they sit up there and count the tile squares.
Anyway, I think that each new year brings wonderful oppertunities to accomplish goals that we have never before been able to wrap ourselves around. Obviously there are many things in life that are out of our control, but I welcome the oppertunity to better myself and I am reminded of this each new year. My new years resolutions are to be more understanding of my parents and in laws and to stop being sick all the time! And if I am sick, I'm going to resolve to try to have a better attitude about it than I have. What do you want for 2008?
I wish you all a blessed, peaceful, and joyous new year!
