My re-homed YNA is improving. When she arrived, the nares were completely closed. I noticed yesterday that she has a perfectly normal looking nare on her left side. Today I was talking to her about molting those black feathers on her right side. When I looked at the feathers on the left side, I was shocked to see all green feathers! I thought birds molted feathers in pairs - one on the right and one on the left in the exact spot. That way they can always fly evenly. What's up with Miss Leroy? Any ideas?

I have heard of birds molting on one side...it's not a common thing, but it does happen. Maybe it has something to do with her previous diet...but if all the new feathers are green, then yayyyy!

I think the symmetrical balance thing may only apply to wing and tail feathers? Either way progress is a good thing.
