This is an older bird around 35 yo. He loves my husband and my son Chris. He tolerates me. I was good enough to clean up after him and feed him and an occasional head scritch. But all that has changed. I am now unable to even open his door to do those things without him trying to bite me. He actually lunged at me. For the life of me, I do not know what I did wrong. The only thing different is we have the U2, Bindi Sue. Any suggestions?

Hair and nails still the same color & length? I would start all over again with a kind word or a treat every time you pass by him. Keep yourself low and non threatening, sit in a chair near his cage and just talk or read or sing softly. Eventually he should view you as not a threat, it does sound like he is defending his turff but I don't know why. More of us will be along with more ideas to help. Can you tell us how long he has been with you?

He has been with us for 4 years now. I have never been his fav person. If I would try to hold him he would grab my hand and put pressure on it as he looked at me. If I did not leave him alone he would then bite. It is just recently that he has tried to bite me for I don't know what.

Do you think he has learned he can bully you? :goodbad:

You may be right. I sure hate those pinches and bites. They hurt. And honestly, I am not his fav, the guys are. My grey is like that to some people. How do you break it?

Cheryl -

It is very common for birds to be fickle. We're trying to explain bird behavior in human terms, and sometimes it just doesn't translate.

Birds usually have a favorite person, and they may switch "favorite persons" several times during their lifetimes.

My first guess would be that your LSC has been affected by the addition of the U-2. Maybe she's jealous and blames you for bringing in an intruder. Or maybe she is a bully and she's playing you.

I have found that many times the best thing to do in a situation like yours is more or less ignore it. Don't do whatever it is you do that make her bite you, but don't stress out over it either. Let somebody she likes clean her cage, or clean it while she is out of it.

Well, all is back to normal. I could pet him and I gave him a snack and he did not try to get me. I don't know what it was. thanks for all the advice.

Sometimes Chicken just has bad days. Even a series of bad days. Just kinda happens sometimes. The weather in Oklahoma has been a bit weird lately as well. There are just SO many things. Glad all is back to normal.
