Well, for the last 3 months things have been crazy, I've had my sister and her baby here since last year and she kind of took over the computer, then my mom and 2 more kids stayed for about a month since she left her alcoholic husband and was scared to stay alone. And on top of that we have been in and out of Dr. for my 6 year old daughter who has been having a lot of trouble in school. With no help from the school system (who just thought that my daughter was, well not very bright) we finally got her in with a Dr bc we knew she was very smart. Well test comes back with well above average IQ but she has ADD (who doesn't anymore) and mild anxiety (they think that is due to being teased in school for not reading as well as the other kids) and the biggest thing is...she's dyslexic! I have been trying to tell the school this for the last 2 years! Needless to say, with all the IEP meetings in school and all the extra work with my daughter I have had very little time...and lots and lots of stress! On another note, moonlight is handling all of this very well...I think she actually is enjoying all the extra people and noise...she does get frusterated when it's quiet time and I help sierra with her hw, but other then that, she has been an angel.
Anyway, I'm glad to be back and hopefully I will be able to check in more often!
PS ..does anyone have any advise for ADD/dyslexia?

Great to have you back. You've been pretty busy! Why is Sierra's school having a problem with a child that is ADD or Dyslexic?? These are no longer unusual situations to deal with and most schools have at least some experience.
I'm glad Moonlight is being so cooperative. When you least expect it they pull out their best behavior and manners.

I've been wondering where you had been, nice to see you back! You've had your hands full.
Some schools, at least around here, just don't seem to take the time for their "problem" students. It may be that since she had been found to have ADD/dyslexia that they can help. It just doesn't seem teachers look for that, they just figure the child isn't paying attention and a Drs opinion will go farther than if the parent says something; because after all what do the parents know?
I have a friend that her son is ADHD/Bipolar. She has for many years faught with the schools. She ended up using the Sullivan learning centers and they helped a great deal!
Good to hear Moonlight is doing well! ~{I just love her name!}~

We were lucky having one child discovered to be dyslexic in first grade, his teacher caught it early and got him special assistance. He is our best student out of four bright kids and just got an award for being the most outstanding Chemistry student. Not only are his grades very good (English is still more difficult)but he tutors several other kids in his class and more in the mornings before school. There is hope out there. So glad to see you back here!

Well thank you all for your responses. I think the schools here are a bit behind, but we are definately looking for somewhere else to take her. They seem to be able to deal with the ADD well enough, it's just the dyslexia. But we are happy to be back.
