BB is a beautiful, soft hearted little white fronted amazon of unknown age or gender (I'm thinking female, but who knows for sure). BB's owner surrendered her to us because they didn't realize what owning a parrot would be like until they brought her home. They are getting ready to have kids and didn't want a parrot to get in the way. When her owner showed up with her, I realized that I knew her from high school, so we chatted for a while. She was teary eyed to let her go, but she was probably doing the best thing for the bird as she seemed really unhappy from what was described. We have not had her long enough to get to know her, but so far she is very polite and wonderfully well behaved, no fear issues at all. She felt a bit on the slim side and that is a concern, so I may have her in to see my avian vet as soon as possible.
Here she is:

And since we're celebrating amazons. Here is a photo of a lovely mexican redhead amazon, "Red,"we were boarding last month. His owners said that he was very, very mean and aggressive and warned us not to let him out of the cage if we didn't want a big problem on our hands. A few days before he went home, I was standing next to his cage, sweet talking Loretta and he reached his foot through the bars and started tugging on my shirt. I took that as a sign and took him out. We had a great snuggle session in the house and my heart was gone. When his owners returned I told them I thought their bird was in love. He is welcome back any time.
