For as long as I can remember I wanted an Umbie and for many years for whatever reasons could never have one. Now I have two and I might be getting another Umbie.. she is 14yrs old... she belongs to a friend of my daughter who at this time cannot take care of her the way she needs to be taken care of... at this time she is at my daughters house but her boyfriend says she has to go ... (he is not a bird person) so she is trying to talk her friend into letting the bird come to me... he is a little hesitant because its an 8 hour drive and he wont be able to pop in and visit... so my daughter is trying to convince him to do what is best for the bird... anyway I will probably know something with in the next few days... Here is a pic of her with one of my grandaughters...

Chrissy - that is wonderful of you to take into your home and heart a 14 year old Umbie. I wish we all could do what you do. I just don't have the space in my house for another bird - or I would do the very same thing.
Congrats. ;)

If it were me, I'd let the boyfriend go.
My husband always threatens that the next animal I bring home he's going to move out; but it's been 39 years and he hasn't yet! I never thought I would make a bird person out of him, but my little female LSC (who used to adore me) now spends as much time as she can cuddling against my husband's neck. We always cuddle the birds after dinner; and Carl says to Betty, "Wanna neck a little?" It tickles him pink that she now prefers him to me.

Her boyfriend treats her like a queen and both her girls like princesses but he just isnt a bird person... he tolerates her Zon... but the umbie is not hers she belongs to a friend of theirs... I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying real hard about this...

Excited to hear if you will have a new member of the flock join you, definitely keep us updated! You're brave to keep three Umbrella Cockatoos, wow! They probably intimidate me the most out of parrots - I could have macaws landing on me all day but white cockatoos...
And my hubby is the one who is bringing in all the birds, hehe. Cressi was a complete surprise he brought home with him from a trip he took to Las Vegas.

I just bring them home.
U2/s are wonderful and how exciting for you. Now tooz people will think someone owning 4 macaws is nuts or conures....you know the ones that their scream makes it sound like nails on the blackboard.
There should be some good stories coming our way.

I am still waiting to hear if I am going to get her or not... the guy has a month to make up his mind. Thats when I will be picking up the grandaughters ... I do have a screeching conure... he makes more noise than both my umbies put to gether....

Evelyn my hubby must be related to yours. His current response is I won't enable your bird habit, funny but serious behind the smile. Let us know what happens. Three Umbies is like having a family of circus children, active loud & always on the move.
