View Full Version : A Reminder

We are having a lot of fun getting to know each other and that is good.

We have a lot of experienced folks here, many with several birds. There are times when some of us need guidence and direction.

TikiTalks posted a question on the Behavior section and only Larry posted a response. He did the best he could with his knowledge, but I am sure many of you can supply some valuable insight to TikiTalk's situation.

So, please do not ignore other important sections within our HappyBirdy home.

Thanks for the gentle reminder, Uncle. I did go post what little I know. To be honest, I only look at two forums, the general one and the one on talking. I have all the time in the world, but I don't have the patience to go read a bunch of different boards and keep up with them. I am used to a different style board where all topics were on the same board. These big boards confuse me.

My message was not directed at any single person. It was meant for all - myself included.

I am new to this type of forum layout as well. I think you and I were on sister boards together for several years. So, I know what you mean by a board being all in one place. Here it is a bit different and can be a little confusing until we get used to it.

What I have found helpful is to click on the "New Post" at the top of the screen. That gives all new posts since the last time we've read them, no matter what section they are in.

A final note... And this message is to all of us... We might think that we don't know the answer to a bird's behavior problem, but just by living with companion birds, day in and day out, we gain experience and knowledge.

There is more that is not known about parrots than there is known. There have been so very few scientific field studies done in the wild that these feathered ones truly are a mystery. We do the best we can. We watch and we observe. We try to combine our understanding of how the world operates and come up with solutions - some work and some do not.

So, even if we don't have the "best" and the "exact" answer, we can give it a shot. At least we will open up the subjects for discussion. This is the way we all learn.

Thanks, Uncle. That was a sweet note. I did not think your original post was meant for me only. I taught school forever, so it is pretty hard to hurt my feelings. I was called a "witch" every day. Not to my face, but you know they thought it. :haha:

Yes, we are from sister boards. The owners of those boards got very lucky or were very smart, IMHO. The small board builds for a close family environment.

I think that what is true for one species is often true for another. There is a lot of carry over.

Yes, we are playing and getting to know each other, but if you look at our silly posts carefully, you will notice that we are recording our birds' behaviors. Yes, it is in a joking fashion, but we do point out differences between them and us.

I must admit... I looked but couldn't think of anything to say.... :( I only have one bird, so I didn't think I could help, but you are right Uncle. We all can put our two cents in and maybe we can come up with something... I'll take another look! :susp:

I have an easy fix for that :wkny:

See up at the top where it says "New Posts" .. click that link and it will show all new posts since your last visit. Using that makes all the sections appear as one forum so its easy to scroll through the new threads. :typing:

You can also find all new posts for the past 24 hours by clicking on "Quick Links" and selecting "Todays Posts" (that is great for when you wanted to catch up on something from a pervious visit).

You can call me the pokey little poster from now on...I have been visiting with relatives the past few days. I'm sorry I missed your post Michelle. I'll get caught up eventually, though this board is full of wonderfully smart people who can usually answer just about anything, so i'm sure you'll get lots of great suggestions..
