A New Beginning For Pretty Girl

Tonight we took in another Eclectus.Her name is Pretty Girl and she's 2 1/2 years old.It was her original owner but unfortunately she didn't have enough time for her.So after discussing it with Elliott we decided to make the trip to pick her up.She's in perfect feather and apears to be in good health.I haven't handled her because I wanted to give her time to settle in.She was an only FID.The previous owner's son moved back home with his pitbull puppy and Pretty Girl wasn't too happy about that.The owner was afraid that the dog would eventually get her.So she felt this was also the best thing to do.Pretty Girl is now in her forever home.:D

That is so wonderful of you...:D I will never understand how someone can have a beautiful living creature in their home for years some more than others... they can just give them up without a second thought... :(
I wish you and your new fid well hope she settles in for you... :D

Exactly my thoughts. He needs to move in with her, he should get rid of his pet if needed. It always irritates me when someone mentions me getting rid of Chicken to have kids. He was here first... Chicken is here to stay!

Thanks Everyone.My thoughts about the entire situation was Pretty Girl needed something a little more permanent.She was currently eating Walmart brand seed.When asked if I wanted it I told her that was garbage and that she could give it to the birds outside.She said it wasn't what she has always been eating but Eclectus diet has to be strictly followed or they will have many problems.She is here to stay and nothing will cause me to rehome her.Too many people do this without thinking.It's really sad.:(

So happy she is now in a caring home with the right diet & friends of her kind. Good star of her new life, I bet you could use a bigger house. lol

A lot of people jump into bird ownership with out thinking it through. I was actually one of them. I had an emergency situation on my hands and needed to get that bird out of there. I did the research and worked very hard to keep my bird. It comes down to being lazy and ignorant... People just don't care sometimes...:sadeyes:

It's amazing how many people think getting a bird is just like getting a dog or a cat... they think you toss some food their way and they will be good for the rest of the day... then they find out it dont work that way so what the heck just get rid of it...

Man you and elliot just have an abounding love of birds . what number does this make now ? I mean arnold is alot for me to handle cause I also have the dogs to take care of and i think the birds are easier . Anyway I am so glad you found it in your heart to create another home for another wayward fid . so is that why you did not call me last night cause you were going after pretty girl ? Well, at least the former owner exhibited some responsibility by realizing the dog might harm the bird. I agree with whoever said keep the bird and move out the son and the dog. :)

Anyway, lucky bird. She now has somebody who will appreciate her and love her.

The count is only 27 parrots 6 chihuahuas and 1 cat now.That's not bad I just meet someone with way more birds.It was kind of what had to be done.I'm a sucker when it comes to Eclectus,though I love all animals.Elliott actually isn't a bird person but he is quickly learning to see them a different way.He has admitted to owning 1 bird which is Beau the YNA.Hey it's a start especially for someone who was always saying YOUR BIRDS.I can't say I was always this way with the birds but over the years I have learned so much and they have a special place in my heart.It's been 13 years of living and learning about the birds.Now that Pretty Girl is here she is letting loss.She woke me up before I was ready with a different kind of Eclectus scream I wasn't exactly thrilled but I guess we all have to adjust.:nuts:
