Okay folks - I went to the bookstore and bought Baby several story books... but I discovered -- she can't read.
Now what? :susp:

Sit her on your knee and read to her. Make sure you put her name in the story...you know how girls can be. LOL
Peggy
And once you have it memorized, you can "read" it to her while you change the papers.
"Ring a ding ding
Sounds the alarm.
Fire! Fire!
On Farmer Pig's Farm.
And put lots of emotion in it. I also like to read to them as quiet time. Watchbird had an article on RFMs in it. I read that to them. They sat quietly and stared at me. They like the kiddie books and stories better because I put so much animation in it. I wish I could do a better rooster and owl. LOL
Which books did you get? Let me know if there is one they perk up to. I'll run out and get it. I am so pitiful.

Oh - my mistake... I found out she can read. What's wrong with me?
On the serious side...
I bought:
Mr. Brown can Moo - Can You. Dr Seuss
The Best Nest. P.D. Eastman
Put Me In The Zoo. Robert Loopshire
Danny And The Dinosaur. Sys Hoff
Oliver. Syd Hoff
They all have tons of pictures and a lot of short, exciting sentences.
I opened one up and exclaimed some amazement and Baby came right up to me. She sat on my knee and stared at the pretty pictures. I asked her if she was ready and turned the page. I read as much as I could with enthusiasm on each page and then went on to the next page.
She tried to eat the little boy in one of the books and tried to eat the spots off the tiger in another. She was a very good girl and did not eat the pages - yet.
She ran to the other side of the couch a few times but I got her to come back to my knee by turning a new page and exclaiming - WoW. That brought her running to see the new pics.
This is going to be a ton of fun for both her and me.
Thanks Dot. ;)

And what does Baby's mom think of all this? And what did she say when you told her you were going to the store to buy books for Baby? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Hey Anon... go to your corner.
Only you would ask that question. I went to the bookstore to buy some computer books that I have been meaning to get for a while.:yahoo:
Since I was there any way... I went to the children's section and picked up those books. My wife was standing near the checkout counter and saw the books in my hands.
She queried --- "What's that????"
I said, books for Baby --- she rolled her eyes. :exct:

Isn't it fun!
Baby is better than my birds. Blusher has already eaten part of Are You My Mother by Dr. Seuss. I forgot to mention that one too.
Also, my birds pretty much ignore the pictures, except for Fergie when I read Goodnight Moon.

I could have posted LOLROFLPIMP. Laugh out loud, pee in my pants (that is how hard the laughing is) then you can throw in rofl roll on floor laughing. Thank you for the big smile.
Sometimes I think there should be spew alerts!!! I have gotten caught by some of them and the soda up the nose. My computer screen has truly been baptized.

Baby is quite visual.
She loves it when I put bird pics on the screen. She loves it when my wife wins at solitaire and the fireworks go off.
She notices the tiniest teeny spec of a flying thing - that my wife and I cannot see -- and we ask her if she is hallucinating again.
She loved the pics in the books.
Her world is a visual kaleidoscope.
You know that birds see in the ultraviolet range -- far above humans.
It's like being in one of those disco lounges in the '60s --- all the time.

Shhhh... going to wake up Baby --- "and" my wife. We will all get in trouble.
My sides hurt

Today I actually wondered what their colors look like. They have four cones and we only have three, so they see all those extra colors that don't exist for us. I wonder if it is in those colors that they can see the difference between genders.
I told you I have way too much time on my hands.

Whatsamattayou... They use their extra visual range to see the mother ship --- and other aliens.
Don't ya see the birds twist their head around and look at something flying around overhead in the room --- and you look to see what they are in a comotion about - and there is "nothing" there.
We just can't see it.... or them.

Bonnie - you know what I am talking about... don't you?
I am not the only one that notices those things. But we don't talk about it because of fear of being discovered... by "them".
I am tired of living in fear of "them".
I think this should be brought out in the open.

OK LARRY...
Lets talk about 'them'.
I have learned how Chicken sends his messages to the mothership...
I've been keeping quiet because of the fear, but I am willing to tell you now...
He uses radio waves.
Oh yea... he's using my own radio against me!!!
He gets over by the radio and hangs off the side of his cage and flings his head wildly with his feathers fluffed out and BABBLES...
Well I used to think it's babbling, but 'them', those on the mothership, they know EXACTLY what he is saying...

When I first got my BFA, I noticed that she would swirl her head around and kind of rock at the same time. I called it looking at invisible gnats. I read in "Bird Talk" that it is called the Stevie Wonder move. I said, "Hey, that's it."
Not any more. I am sure she is communicating with the Mothership.

Larry, you got Baby a few of my childhood favorites! Put Me in the Zoo and Danny and the Dinosaur.
I have no doubt you could teach Baby to read. ;)

Hey Michelle,
Those books caught my eye. I wanted ones with nice big pictures and they just jumped into my arms at the bookstore.
This is a new venture for Baby and me. She is very smart. I am excited to make a new "share" time - just the two of us.

Describing your birds looking at invisible flying objects...U2's do this so much better than any of the other birds I have seen doing this (oh, saw a triton doing this yesterday) But the tooz seem to have more amazing movement like this. Have any of you observed this?

Not myself particularly, but I frequently see two of my cockatiels tilting their head at nothing.. Tiki is particularly good about this. HE does this booty shake upside down thing.. I've since started asking him "Why are you upside down?"

Would you post that as a regular photo, please, so I can see it better.
Maybe we should do a set of photos with birds communicating with the Mothership.

I have a friend in Tenn. who claims his birds use a worm hole to travel around. Now it is all starting to come together. He also says his birds are out to take over the world.
