A few weeks ago I mentioned that a member of our Exotic Bird Club will be moving to a smaller home and has to reduce his flock by half. Two of the birds that have to be rehomed are Blossom, a 10 year old B&G Macaw and Molly, also 10 years old. Molly is a Green Wing Macaw. On Tuesday I will be going to meet the birds. There are two of us interested in the birds, but I have first dibs. I think I'm going let the bird pick me, but I'm starting to worry that maybe neither one will pick me. I've decided that I will probably be getting one of them. If that doesn't happen, I'll just go out in the garden and eat worms. (My ex MIL used to say that all the time):yernutz:

I originally inquired about the B&G, but I keep dreaming about Molly and I haven't met them or seen pictures of them yet. I'm taking my camera and I'll give you and update Tuesday night.

After I talked to the present owner and got more information on them, he told me they have been together for their 10 years and he hoped they would go to the same home. I did entertain the idea of taking both of them (for a fleeting moment), but now there is someone else interested in taking one. If they both pick me, I guess I'll have to make the choice myself.

Please do think of taking them both. I always wonder if Leroy (YNA) and Blusher (RFM) are playing or fighting. I think I found out tonight. Leroy had walked in the poop on her play gym (yep, another one on the short bus). As I picked her up to wipe her toes, Blusher flew to my back, throwing a fit, and bit me! I guess she thought I was hurting her bud.

Tommie (BFA) was terrified when Blusher hung herself on a toy. Even after I got Blusher down, Tommie clucked and clucked. She was not satisfied until she came and got on the chair where I was holding Blusher.

All that to say I do think they bond and really care about each other. Even if someone else wants one of the birds, remember that you all should do what is best for the birds, and that means you examining your space, money, and time.

(I hope you get them both.:rofl:)

I've discussed the possibility of adding a new bird to our flock with Cloud. He has listened intently, but has offered no thoughts on the subject.

Molly is already sending you dreams...
she HAS already picked you! I can't wait to see if you end up with both!
Oh...and the worm thing...I always heard a little tune..
Nobody loves me,
Everybody hates me,
think I'll go eat worms...
not sure where that came from..but I'm singing it now, of course! =)

I agree it sounds like Molly is sending messages to you ! If the owner wants them to go together and you can handle 2 more and they both take to you then whats best for the birds is the best plan. Good luck, that's a tough decision. Originally with the Senegals I just got I had decided to take Peanut, then she asked me before I left to go and get her if I would take Paulie. Once I got there and interacted with both I knew I needed to take both of them as Paulie would probably not be placeable. So just follow your heart and see where it leads you. Can't wait until Tuesday!!

Oh! I have been waiting anxiously for this post!!! Please do let us know how it goes! i'm so excited for you. If neither bird chooses you, that just means your special bird is still out there somewhere. But with you, what's not to like? :) Please post pics when you get them.
