Does your bird ever use a utensil, like a spoon? Peggy and Uriel will both use a spoon, but it's interesting to see the differences in how they go about it once the spoon has been handed to them. Uriel is always simple and pretty much just sees things for what they are. Peggy Sue, in all of her majestic glory, seems to read between the lines and often creates her own way of doing or communicating things. Offer Uriel a spoon with peanut butter and he will take it with his foot, lick the peanut butter and then play with his new "toy" until he loses interest. The wheels start turning in Peggy's head when she first see's me with a spoon and a jar of peanut butter. Peggy has learned to make things easier for herself, as putting too much effort into anything may cause her to break a nail, and heaven forbid. Peggy takes the spoon (as well as any other food given) walks over to her bowl, sets it ontop of her pelleted food and stuffs her face inside the bowl to chow down. Why hold the spoon when you don't have to? I love to notice these little subtle differences in my birds. It reminds me that they are all individuals...just like us. They aren't like so many other animals in so many ways and they always amaze me.

Those were great videos, Anna!
It was fun to see how the differences in approach... but I was also just mesmerized by how beautiful both of them are! What vibrant colors and personalities!! I love it!
Those were wonderful. I love the way the B&G licks her beak.
A bonus feature was it made my fat zon so excited that she flew to the monitor looking for those smart birdies.
At my house they will eat yogart out of a spoon. To my surprise, the first time I offered Leroy ice-cream, she took the spoon and held it and ate.

That is not a photo of me. I just thought it was cool. One of my former students sent me an email to tell me she made another A in Spanish. There were three attachments. One was a cell phone. One was a house. And the third was that Viva la evolución, except she had it with the red background. Jill was kind enough to change it to white. It is easier to read with a white background, but that red did give it a kind of Che look. I think it is a hoot. In my student's defense, she was taking finals that week. :ugh:
For those of you going into education, I believe that on the report card where it says Comments, one of the comments should be "Shallow Gene Pool." :saythat:

So much fun to be had not only from our shared flock but from each others funny bones as well. Anna you have budding stars there! Dot it is a shame there is a writers strike or you could make a second income. on bird humor.

My Alpha M2, Gaynor. Comes to the back door that goes from our garage to our utility room (which leads to our kitchen) He hears us inside and will stay there and yell 'Come On! Come On! Sceech Screech!' Until we come and get him. One time he got a big stick and was pounding on the door with that.
Aren't they clever?

That is another example of these birds' extreme intelligence... the use of tools.
Thanks Darryl for sharing that one.
