I have been working with Cassie for the past couple of weeks to learn to fly to me. I think she's always been clipped, and I doubt she ever fledged. She has little control over where she is flying, it's just kind of helter skelter. Part of it has to do with her choppy wing clip that is still growing in.

I just love to watch birds fly! Yay Cassie!!!
I haven't let Chicken's flight feathers grow out... We go outside a lot and I don't want him getting any ideas. I also think he would get an attitude. A M2 with an attitude isn't good for the flesh lol. Plus, we have a small house, it would be kinda dangerous for him to be able to fly.

Cassie's getting a little bit of a "tude" herself, but I really want to give her the opportunity to learn to fly before I get her clipped. I have an open floor plan with lots of room so it's a bit easier to do.

I know Chicken can fly. We do a trick where I spin in circles so he has wind resistance to flap his wings. It doesn't last too long because I get dizzy, but he does have fun! LOL

circles are a danger for Stella, as I get so dizzy I lose my balance so she only gets 2 full circles then I have to stop. We mostly do rollercoaster flying.

It looks like Cassie is doing much better than Blusher (RFM). She is four and has just recently mastered landing. She is definitely getting a little tude to go with the flying. I meant to start a thread with the Subject: "I can fly. I am Superman!" :haha:

Cassie fits in SO well at our house! She's SO funny and full of herself! The other night she was on hubby's shoulder and it was time for nite nite, she didn't want to go, so when I reached for her she SCREAMED right in his ear like a little girl {you know those really shrill screams} ~ he asked what I did, I said nothing she doesn't want to go to bed so she's trying to make me think she's hurt so I won't touch her. :haha:

Great photos! I think it's really amazing that you're training her to recall. I wish more people would dedicate their time to training this behavior to their birds as it can be so fun for both parties and so rewarding in the end.

Many here have expressed they would not do free flight and that is fine. But some of the principles are still good to teach. One of those is a recall. Your bird my be flighted in the house and has the potential to escape. Teaching a recall could save them once out. They would know how to come back.
The ABC's of behavior is a good practice and can help shape our birds behavior to make it an enjoyable relationship.

I wish Linus would let me do that. He looks at me like "why are you trying to pull my legs off?" and then it's "well I'm gonna pull of your fingers then".

Stella LOVES to hang upside down and flap her wings, Cassie wouldn't dream of it a few months ago but they copy each other SO much it's funny, so now Cassie is getting to where she will hang for a second or 2 so it won't be long.
