Among them are Tiki, Toby, Tucker, & Mic. Now...who is the odd-ball out?
Tiki was michelle's first love, a little cockatiel that she brought home almost a year ago. He was not weaned when given to her and he nearly died of starvation after she did not realize that he was not eating for a few days. I took care of him and nursed him back to health, using a steel feeding tube. Today he is vibrant and full of so much personality, it cannot be contained!
I have not gotten to know toby or mic very well, but they are a little more shy and quiet. Mic likes to hang out with tiki and the joy of his day seems to be sneaking into tiki's cage to chow on his food and play with his toys. Tiki and mic really seem to like Toby - the shy one of the bunch (who I believe is a girl) but she does not seem terribly interested in the two of them. They have been having little birdy "pow-wows" in toby's cage and she wears this expression that says "They invited themselves so now what can I do about it?" We are really enjoying this fantastic little flock.
Tucker is michelle's quaker but for those of you who have known me a while, you will remember that we rescued tucker who was flying around someone's yard in albuquerque. Tucker really does ride the short bus andis quite slow. He does not know how to step up but he is such a lovey little guy. He loves to cuddle in pockets and under chins and he has to feel like he is the king. If he does not feel like king, he will growl at his subjects until they obey. I snuck tucker into the hospital to see michelle yesterday and he really cheered her up.
All of the birds are doing very well and seem too spoiled to be very sad about the circomstances. I think they know that their momma will be back for them just as soon as she can. Until then they will be lavished with wonderful food and toys. We did not have time to get the bird's cages when we moved them from michelle's house, so they are using some that we have and I think they are enjoying their roomy accomidations. I can't wait for michelle to come home so she can be reunited with her babies.
