Good news!
I went to visit Michelle this morning and walked in just as they were taking the bio hazard sign off her door. All of the Drs. came together and decided that michelle was probably not very contagious and whoever put all of that stuff up was being a bit over cautious. The kids' Dr called back this afternoon and said that if Michelle had gotten them sick, they would have had it mid last week and we would already know about it, and evwn then the phnemonia itself was not contagious. I felt much better when I woke up today, so maybe my sore throat was just allergies? Gabe slept off whatever was causing him grief and didn't get out of bed until 1:00 this afternoon and then seemed to feel fine aside from a little runny nose. Katie is still doing fine.
Michelle was somewhat alert and got a big smile on her face when I told her that Tucker woke us up this morning with his loud growling. Before I left, her nurse came in and sat her up in bed so that some of the fluid would drain out of her lungs. She seemed really uncomfortable laying flat on her back, so I was happy to see them sit her up. Now that she is not totally drugged, she has gotten a bit fiesty and keeps trying to get up or remove her wires, so they had to put her wrists in cuffs to keep her from messing with everything. If she's fighting the staff, we know she's fighting the infection, LOL!!! Her hematocrit levels were up from 24 back to 26 and her hemaglobin was also up a few points - Hurray, she's making new blood and keeping it. Her white blood cell count is down and her fever is gone. Her blood pressure is a little high today, probably because she is experiencing so much pain, but myself and a few of her friends and family have been there for her, holding her hand and letting her know that we are there with her. Hopefully she is on the downside of this thing and just needs the time to heal.
Michelle's mother told me a few things this morning. The first is that she had spoken with michelle's real estate agent and they are going to extend the deadline on the house as the owner has decided to wait for michelle to get better, since she had been so cooperative with the whole process until she was hopsitalized. They were also finally able to get ahold of Michelle's work - who was very understanding about Michelle's situation. They even told her mother to let her know that she had gotten a raise and had not had the oppertunity to tell her yet.
the last we heard of michelle's boyfriend is that he found his way to LA. Not sure what he is doing there, but we have not heard from him.
