Recently I got the bright idea of moving my male and female electus into my house with my Severe Macaw. I thought that would be a quieter environment for them and since they have feather plucking issues that it would be better for them. And guess what my male is starting to grow his feathers back. Then it occured to me that maybe he sees my severe (who is mostly green) and he has got the idea that feathers are a good idea or maybe he sees the severe as another green electus and a rival for the affection of his girlfriend.
What do you think? Am I nuts or what?:smiles:

From what I understand Eclectus are a multiple partner bird with the female collecting males. They all court her & bring her food just on the hope they will be the lucky daddy. It could be the thought of competition but I think it may just be a change of scenery gave him something else to think about. Will be interesting so see if his improved feathering continues.

You never can tell, as everyone points out here we dont really know all there is to know about our babies. What ever the reason its good that he is not plucking, to be honest I am hoping when AngelBaby gets out to the bird room that maybe Cassie will see how pretty she can look and leave her feathers alone... we can only hope.
